Departing San Diego

The morning of April 19, 2018 was time to get on the road to Anaheim. However, San Diego is a tough place to leave and since we had some time in the morning we decided to stay and sightsee for a while. We got to check out some pretty cool areas including the Gaslamp Quarter and the waterfront path. Along the way we stopped to eat at a great crepe place called Olala Crepes on Fifth Ave.

We hit the road for Anaheim around noon and made the 1 hour 30 min drive along the coast. We stopped in Laguna Beach to enjoy the water and sand before checking into the hotel.

Hotel Accommodations

We didn’t have much luck with Hotwire.com when looking for hotels in Anaheim, possibly due to lack of vacancies or our less flexible requirements. Alternatively, we booked on Priceline.com and stayed at the Newport Beach Marriott Bayview. This worked out perfectly because we were able see a relative who live in the area for the remainder of the afternoon.

Travel tip: Hotwire is great when you can be flexible on where you need to stay. If you need to be at a specific hotel, try Priceline or another booking service.

The Game

That night we drove to the game in the convertible. The Angels have a huge parking lot and the parking is relatively cheap: $10 for a regular season game. The Angels played the Red Sox at 7:07PM and we had seats in the Club MVP section; Row C; Seats 3, 4.

Travel tip: If you rented a car, drive to Angel Stadium of Anaheim. There is plenty of parking, making it easy and cheap.
